Some unique and specific in their delivery based on the floor or RA while others may be identical in their delivery to provide a similar opportunity regardless of the floor or hall that you live in. Types of strategies that you can expect include roommate/suitemate agreements, active building and floor programs, intentional facilitated interactions between resident and RA, educationally passive content, and much more. Through the work of our staff, our in-hall staff, including our amazing Resident Advisors, help deliver these various strategies. FYE provides students with resources and support during their transition at Carolina and as residents of Carolina Housing. While living on campus, you will make new friends, immerse yourself in the UNC culture, establish valuable academic connections and identify unique leadership opportunities. Our goal for the First Year Experience is to provide you with an academically and socially supportive environment. Because of the educational benefits and campus connections created by living on campus, first-year students at UNC Chapel Hill are required to live in on-campus residence halls or at Granville Towers during the entirety of their first academic year.
